Company Synopsis
CNPC is the main oil and gas supplier and producer in China, as one of the main providers of oil related services in the world. It is present inapproximately 70 countries in the world.
Projects in Colombia
2012: entered into a 3-year cooperation contract with Ecopetrol for the extraction of gas and oil among others, with the signing of this contract it was announced that it would start operations in Venezuelan Orinoquia until the Colombian Pacific with an investment of US 800 billion, which the Chinese government was willing to invest, showing interest also in the Putumayo zone because of its closeness to Ecuador.
Nevertheless, when consulted, the National Agency of Hydrocarbons answered that the company only has two contracts in Colombia, the first one, the contract for special technic evaluation CPE-7 which state is finished and the second one a contract for exploration and production CPO-2 awarded during the round Colombia 2008 and which was waived in phase 1.
On the other hand, it is reported the presence of China Petroleum Technology and Development Corporation (CPTDC) CNPC filial company in Colombia, company which business is the importation and exportation of oil industry equipment and provides materials and equipment for the foreign projects of the CNPC.
